Eni SpA has secured a €500 million loan from the European Investment Bank for its Sannazzaro de' Burgondi biorefinery project in Italy, which will produce 550,000 metric tons of biofuel feedstock annually. The biorefinery is expected to start operations in 2028 and will produce hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
